Biography
Dr. Bendell is a human factors and cognitive systems researcher whose work integrates human factors engineering, human-AI interaction, user-centered evaluation, and simulation-based experimentation. His research focuses on how people perceive, understand, and interact with complex technologies, with emphasis on human performance, usability, team cognition, autonomy, and intelligent systems in operationally realistic environments. Across his work, he combines experimental psychology, engineering-oriented system design, immersive simulation, computational modeling, and multimodal behavioral measurement to study human-system interaction and generate actionable design insight. His broader research agenda is centered on developing theory, methods, and technical infrastructures that support the design and evaluation of adaptive human-centered systems.
