Shayne Loft received his PhD from the University of Queensland in 2004. He is currently a Professor at the University of Western Australia in the School of Psychological Science. His research focuses on the application of theory and methods from cognitive (psychology) science to understand human behaviour and interaction with technology in complex workplaces to inform work design and training practices, with a focus on Aviation and Defence. Shayne completed terms as Associate Editor for the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied (2017-2022) and for Human Factors (2015-2022). His currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Defence Science and Security Institute at the University of Western Australia.
