Biography
I am an undergraduate researcher in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, where I contribute to the HERO Lab’s work on human-machine interaction. My research investigates the intersection of myoelectric control and user agency in upper-limb prosthetics. Specifically, I study kinematic and visual-oversight biomarkers to identify "hidden costs" of autonomy, such as movement hesitation and excessive supervision, that traditional success metrics often overlook. By exploring calibrated, agency-constrained shared autonomy, I aim to develop systems that function as seamless extensions of the body rather than mere tools. I am dedicated to bridging the gap between engineering and movement science to optimize the symbiotic partnership between humans and assistive technology. My current work emphasizes the use of these body-level biomarkers to ensure that technical assistance preserves user intent while maximizing movement economy.
