Task-Dependent EHR Usability from Nursing Perspective in Pediatric Intensive Care: An Eye-Tracking Study
DescriptionElectronic health records (EHRs) play a central role in nursing workflows, yet usability challenges remain poorly understood during real-time clinical tasks. This study used eye tracking to examine PICU nurses’ visual attention during admission preparation and medication administration tasks in a simulated EHR environment. Results revealed task dependent differences in visual scanning, attention, and cognitive workload, highlighting opportunities to improve EHR interface design and workflow alignment for critical nursing activities.
