BIPOC Affinity Group Discussion Forum: Sharing the Issues that are Timely and Meaningful to BIPOC HF/E Professionals
DescriptionThe Black, Indigenous and Persons of Color (BIPOC) Affinity Group is committed to providing mutual support and a sense of community within HFES. The purpose of this session is to provide an opportunity for those in the BIPOC community and its allies to share the issues that are relevant within their professional communities in a safe space. The first 10-15 minutes will be dedicated to introductions and networking, with the goal of building trust and comfort among the attendees. The remaining time will be spent discussing topics solicited through questions submitted prior to the event and a real-time interactive crowd-sourcing tool. The goal of the session is to encourage sharing and constructive discourse in a professional and supportive setting. This session will provide a venue for the HFES BIPOC community to connect in person, establish a network for future engagement, and provide real-time mentorship connections between the three areas of HFES stakeholders (students, faculty, and industry professionals).
